CustomInChina Glossary of Buyer Terms

Buyer Decision Summary

This glossary keeps common buyer terms in one place for RFQ, artwork, imprinting, samples, packaging, inspection, payment, and shipping. Use it as a quick reference while the deeper decision content stays in the relevant core, cluster, blog, or wiki pages.

Procurement Terms

MOQ means minimum order quantity, the lowest production quantity a supplier can usually plan efficiently. RFQ means request for quote, the brief a buyer sends before pricing. OEM means buyer-led manufacturing under the buyer specification. ODM means supplier-led design adapted for a buyer brand. Private label means the product is prepared for resale under the buyer brand, often with labels, packaging, or retail presentation.

Production Terms

Sample means the reference unit used to confirm size, material, color, logo, and function before bulk production. Golden sample means the approved production reference. Artwork proof means the layout shown before printing or decoration starts. Pantone means a color reference system used when brand color needs tighter control.

Packaging Terms

Packaging scope covers polybags, gift boxes, inserts, hang tags, barcode labels, and carton marks. These details can change cost, MOQ, lead time, and inspection requirements, so they should be confirmed before final quotation or sample approval.

QC and Shipping Terms

QC means quality control, including checks for size, appearance, logo accuracy, count, and packing. AQL is an inspection framework used to judge defect levels. Lead time is the production timeline before shipment. FOB, CIF, and DDP describe shipping responsibility and cost structure, and should be confirmed before comparing quotes.

Buyer FAQ

Should each term get its own page?

No. For this site, simple terms stay on one glossary page unless they need real buyer-decision depth.

What should link to this glossary page?

Core pages, cluster pages, and relevant wiki pages can link to it when a buyer needs a fast reference for terms used in the order process.

Is this glossary the same as the main Wiki?

No. The main Wiki still holds deeper sourcing and procurement decision pages. The glossary is only a compact support page.
